MotoGP has announced its calendar for the final season of its 1000cc era in 2026, with Australia set to occupy its traditional late-October date as Brazil returns for the first time in over two decades.

The inclusion of the race in Goiania at the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna for the second round of the season on March 20-22 marks MotoGP’s first visit to Brazil since it raced in Rio de Janeiro in 2004, and comes at the expense of the race in Argentina, which has been held at the remote Termas de Rio Hondo circuit since 2014.

Argentina will return in 2027 at the Autódromo Oscar Alfredo Gálvez outside of Buenos Aires, which last hosted the motorcycle world championship in 1999 and undergo a major renovation to bring it up to current world championship standards.
For the second year in succession, MotoGP will open its season in early March in Thailand, with Brazil, the United States and Qatar part of a quartet of flyaways before the sport settles in Europe for the following 12 rounds.
Australia is the third leg of the late-season swing through Asia, with Phillip Island hosting round 19 from October 23-25. The season will finish in Valencia in Spain from November 20-22.

The 2026 season is the final campaign of the regulatory set that has been in place since 2012, with the 1000cc machines being replaced by 850cc bikes with heavily-tightened aerodynamic regulations and a ban on rear ride-height devices, among other changes.
The 2026 rider market will remain relatively stable after reigning world champion Jorge Martin’s about-face with Aprilia on the eve of the most recent event in the Czech Republic; the Spaniard had been trying to use an escape clause in his contract to leave Aprilia, likely for Honda, a year earlier than the expiration of his agreement in 2026.
After Martin confirmed his future at Brno, Honda re-signed incumbent rider Luca Marini for next season.
Australia’s Jack Miller remains in contract limbo for 2026, with his one-year deal with Pramac Yamaha expiring at the end of this season.
The 30-year-old is widely considered to be the front-runner to stay with the team in place of current Portuguese teammate Miguel Oliveira as Yamaha brings World Superbikes star Toprak Razgatlioglu to MotoGP with Pramac next season.
The 2025 season recommences with the Austrian Grand Prix, round 13 of the 22-round calendar, from August 15-17.
