The incident occurred during the 17th over of Australia’s run chase at Marrara Oval after Bosch bowled Dwarshuis for 12, with the 30-year-old pointing towards the changing rooms following the dismissal. Bosch finished with career-best figures of 3-20 from three overs as the Proteas cruised towards a commanding 53-run victory.

On Wednesday evening, Bosch was dealt a demerit point for breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC’s Code of Conduct, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon their dismissal during an international match”. The South African admitted the Level 1 offence and accepted the sanction.

With the series tied at 1-1, the third and final T20 between Australia and South Africa gets underway at Cairns’ Cazalys Stadium on Saturday evening at 7.15pm AEST.

Elsewhere, Australian all-rounder Mitchell Owen has been ruled out of the T20 decider along with next week’s ODI series due to concussion.
